Experience
Ray is a director in Grant Thornton's Risk Advisory practice. He joined from an international bank and brings with him over 20 years of experience in financial services, including over 17 years in prudential regulation and reporting.
Ray has served as Head of Regulatory Reporting for both a Significant Institution (SI) and a Less Significant Institution (LSI), overseeing regulatory submissions to the Central Bank of Ireland and the European Central Bank.
He has led numerous projects and initiatives, including the implementation of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), development of regulatory reporting frameworks, enhancement of control environments, mergers, portfolio acquisitions, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory rules. Ray has also worked as a Basel III subject matter expert and undertaken numerous assurance engagements in a consultancy capacity.
With extensive experience in regulation and regulatory reporting, Ray has led several key initiatives, including:
- The implementation of CRR and CRR II from both a rules compliance and regulatory reporting framework perspective.
- Lead role in the ECB’s Comprehensive assessment, including Asset Quality Review (AQR) and Stress Testing.
- Production and Assurance roles in the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Plan (ICAAP) across multiple entities.
- Oversight and review of full suite of European Prudential Regulatory Returns and local statistical reporting.
- Interpretation and documentation of Regulatory rules and requirements.
- All aspects of Recovery Planning.
- Regulatory Reporting System implementation.
- Pillar III production, rule compliance, review and challenge.
- Ray also lectures in Regulatory Reporting in the Institute of Bankers (IOB).
