David Mac Curtain

Experience

David joined the firm as a Director in 2022 and heads the Actuarial team in Grant Thornton Ireland. 

He brings a strategic outlook and significant insurance and financial services experience, and is a qualified actuary and CFA Charterholder.

Sector experience

David is a senior actuary with 20 years’ experience in diverse (re)insurance leadership roles and consultancy. 

His recent experience includes strategic, technical, and commercial advice across a variety of international regimes. David has worked in both insurers and consultancy at a senior level.

David brings a specialist understanding of insurance markets, actuarial techniques, regulation, ALM, and market entry, spanning domestic, cross-border, life, non-life, consolidation and reinsurance business lines.

He has led and provided advice in large projects and programmes, and has engaged effectively with Boards, Board Committees, and regulators, as well as with all insurer functional areas.
