Experience

Brian joined Grant Thornton in 2019 and leads the firms Financial Service Tax Practice.

Brian specialises in the provision of tax advisory and compliance services to a diverse range of financial services clients across the asset management, banking, insurance, securitisation, leasing and regulated Fintech sectors.

Sector Experience

Brian has extensive experience in advising clients with regard to the establishment of regulated investment funds and fund managers in Ireland. He also advised on capital market transactions, cross border structured finance transactions, securitisation (including aviation) deals, structuring acquisitions, disposal of business assets, restructuring of group operations, cross border lending/financing, determining appropriate fund structure and domicile from a regulatory and tax perspective, International tax planning and the impact of OECD, EU and other international developments.

Brian’s significant and varied domestic and international expertise across the financial services sector complement the existing tax teams offering and he is collaborating closely with both the Financial Services Audit and the Financial Service Advisory practices which have experienced significant growth in the areas of audit, regulatory reporting, business risk services and financial consulting business lines.

Brian is also working closely with colleagues in the wider Grant Thornton international network to assist groups and managers across the financial services sector in the establishment of Irish operations, platforms and investment products and to manage their global tax and regulatory requirements in an efficient manner.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton Brian spent over 15 years with a Big 4 firm where he worked within both the financial services tax and audit practices. Brian also completed a tour in the US where he represented the Irish firm as Irish tax desk leader for 2.5 years.
