Annmarie Howard, trainee in FAAS
I studied Business Studies International with French at DCU. I joined the Finance Advisory team within the Advisory Department at Grant Thornton in August 2021.
The interview process with Grant Thornton was a very enjoyable process. Due to the nature of the environment in 2020, I interviewed with two members of the finance advisory team virtually.
How to prepare
In preparation for the interview, I used the STAR method to understand my strengths and weaknesses and how I could use these skills in different scenarios. To learn more about Grant Thornton, I researched the six core values of Grant Thornton and the role that I was interviewing for.
As I had an interest in enrolling into a training contract, I researched the different routes to become a chartered accountant (ACA and ACCA). Understanding the different possible routes provided me with another discussion point during the interview.
To any graduate preparing for an interview, my advice would be upon completing preparation for the interview try to remain as calm and composed as possible throughout the interview. At the end of the day the interviewer wants to get to know the real you, and understand how you can perform under different circumstances!
Best of luck!
